A Totton College apprentice has been awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year’ by national mechanical and electrical engineering contractor, Dodd Group. Corin Atkinson, aged 19, was presented with a certificate by the Sheriff of Southampton, Councillor Les Harris on Thursday 29 September at Southampton Guildhall Square.
Celebrating its long standing commitment to apprenticeships, Dodd Group launched the annual UK wide competition to recognise its most promising apprentices. Corin was this year’s winner due to his positive attitude and dedication according to his mentor Matt Clarke, Southampton Regional Manager. He commented:
“His aptitude appears to have little bounds within our work sector. Corin’s college attendance is excellent, he was so advanced in his coursework, that he completed his apprenticeship in June, some 6 to 7 months’ sooner than most.”
Totton College offers a range of apprenticeships across a spectrum of industries and is continuing to expand in this area by increasing its partnership working with local employers.

Corin has now completed his Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration with Totton College, a solid start to his career as a Quantity Surveyor.
