Representatives from Totton College were delighted to attend the Brilliance in Business Awards last week, at which we presented The Totton College Award for Training and Development. Our award focuses on businesses who offer outstanding career opportunities to their employees, including training, career development and mentoring.

The three shortlisted candidates for our award were Balmer Lawn Hotel, The Master Builders Hotel, and New Forest Activities. The businesses submitted applications and had to attend a panel meeting with Debra McDermott (Head of Apprenticeships of Totton College), Matthew Lawson (Chairman of New forest Business Partnership) and Matt Callaghan (Economic Development Manager of New Forest District Council).

We were proud to present our award to Balmer Lawn Hotel. They have shown considerable investment in a range of training opportunities, and they have created numerous learning and development pathways. These have had a positive impact on the retention of staff, customer satisfaction and, most impressively, the presentation of a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.

It was inspiring to attend such a successful evening celebrating the achievements of all local businesses involved, whilst presenting our award to a well-deserved winner.
