Totton College saves Totton Carnival for second year running

The 100 year tradition of the annual Totton Carnival continued over the weekend, with a sponsorship deal from Totton College.

Totton Carnival, which helps to raise money and awareness for local causes, was at risk of being cancelled in 2018 due to a lack of funding to cover insurance and security costs.

Totton College agreed to become the main sponsor of the event by providing support, facilities and funding to save Totton Carnival and keep it running for three years until 2020.

Speaking about the importance of the Totton College sponsorship deal, committee Organiser, Chris Vincent said:

“We are overjoyed that Totton College has been able to help us save the much loved Totton Carnival for the second year in a row.  Having the support and help of the Totton College team has made a huge difference for our local community and we are delighted that this years’ carnival has been another fantastic event for local people.”

Hannah Avoth, Totton College Vice Principal, Campus Lead said:

“We are delighted that the much loved Totton Carnival has continued for another year. Being in the second year of sponsorship, we were very pleased to see so many local people out and about enjoying all that the carnival had to over the weekend whilst helping to support important local causes. The Totton College team is committed to doing all we can to make next years’ carnival another great success.”

Totton College students provided filming and photography of the parade procession, as well as hair and makeup for local Totton Carnival princesses, at Totton Colleges’ onsite Opus Salon.

The 2019 Totton Carnival took place on Saturday 15 June 2019 with the theme, ‘Totton goes to the Musicals’.
